GOODLUCK JONATHAN WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL PRESIDENT!

GOOD LUCK JONATHAN WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL PRESIDENT.  By Femi Aribisala I WALKED into the east wing of The Palms shopping mall in Lekki, Lagos (popularly referred to as Shoprite); only to be buttoned-holed by a man trying to sell me a Honda Civic parked inside the hall. His sales pitch was that it was the first totally assembled Honda in Nigeria; built completely to Nigerian specifications. For example, unlike the classical Honda, the Nigeria model has a high clearance, being mindful of the potholes in Nigerian roads. President Goodluck Jonathan speaks during his visit to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in Lagos, on March 12, 2015. President Jonathan visited the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on March 12, and launched a new online mobile platform, X-Gen, designed to increase local investment. The platform is targetted at increasing the number of local investors in the country and to enable about 30 millions domestic investors have access to the market. AFP PHOTO I had no in

Many northern Nigerians who identified themselves as Arewa, such as Suleiman Mohammed Sani are beginning to speak out, saying that they would like a new country which consists of 19 Northern States to be called 'United States of Arewa Republic'. READ Suleiman's statement below: ------- “One already existing agitation will bring about our existence without rancour, ours is already a cool, calm and articulated agenda. We had existed before the advent of the colonial masters, even without the real structures of Western influences and education, and no doubt we could exist better now.” Suleiman Mohammed Sani wrote. “We don’t start a fight, but we fight to finish if need be and often we conquer. “Whatever others think and feel, we could still do

Jude Ndukwe: Biafra, Junaid Muhammed and Northern Nigeria’s elite terrorists Op-Ed Editor   December 14, 2015         The recent and relentless unfortunate comments of a certain Junaid Muhammed, the purported convener of the Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, have  assumed a war dimension against Ndigbo and need to be addressed decisively now as always. One would have willingly chosen to fall into the destructive temptation of ignoring the man but for the fact that he leads a foremost group of supposedly highly respected class of people from the northern part of Nigeria, which makes his opinions representative of the group he leads, it is necessary that he be addressed and kept in his proper place while being exposed for who he is in order to halt his injurious obsession with Ndigbo, a people whose incomparable success in all noble endeavours of life gets him so riled. His latest vituperation against Ndigbo appeared as

Raymond Dokpesi granted bail

Image
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted bail to the founder of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi, in the sum of N200m and two sureties in like sum, but held that he be kept at the Kuje prison, Abuja, pending the perfection of his bail conditions. The judge ruled that one of sureties must be a director in the Civil Service while the defendant must deposit his international passport with the court. He faulted the argument of the prosecution, led by Mr. Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, that Dokpesi was facing an indictable felony charge and should as such be kept behind bars. He said that an accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Kolawole held that it was only in capital offences like murder that the court could deny granting bail to the accused person, noting that the maximum penalty for the offence the defendant was alleged to have committed was seven years imprisonment, which he added was minimal in relation to penalties for capi
